The Client

The client is a market leader in the sector it is involved in. They design, manufacture and install their epoxy coated steel product in locations throughout the world and are currently going through an expansion that will give them the structure to win even more work moving forward. Part of this expansion has been moving into a large and modern purpose-built manufacturing facility that will help them improve the speed and volume of the products they currently manufacture. This impressive facility was opened in early 2018 and has brought about many new positions within the company. The client is currently looking for an experienced and dynamic HSE Manager to join their team.

Main Purpose of the Role

The HSE Manager shall provide support to the business for all aspects of HSE management with a strong emphasis on working closely with Production, Projects, Clients, Sales, Installation, Design and Suppliers. The successful candidate will have a solid track record, be a self-starter and have the ability to contribute in line with the Company’s ambitious growth plans.

The job holder must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate at all levels across the business including clients and supply chain and demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to resolving problems. The HSE Manager is also expected to be pro-active in contributing to our aim of continuous improvement by advising on the operation of our HSE systems and reporting any issues to line management as appropriate.


Achieve a level of health, safety and environmental management that meets the company’s business needs and the expectations of the customer.
Work with all staff & others to protect the health and safety of staff, visitors, subcontractors and the customer by ensuring that risks in the workplace are properly controlled and that impacts on the environment are minimised.
Ensure that the company meets its legal HSE obligations across the business units.
Promote good health, safety and environmental practices throughout all company activities.
Devise, develop and monitor effective HSE risk assessment management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies.
Liaise with the UK Health and Safety Executive to ensure policies, practices and procedures meet their requirements.
Propose, implement and monitor measures necessary to comply with HS&E legislation and Codes of Practice.
Carry out or arrange workplace safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented.
Ensure that statutory requirements are being upheld throughout the organisation such as CoSHH, RIDDOR, and PPE.
Ensure the implementation of the Emergency Evacuation Procedure.
Develop and drive continuous improvement programs for HSE
Advise management on legal compliance and procedural changerequirements
Continually strive to increase the safety culture while simultaneously working to reduce workplace risk.
Advise and work with management on employee training and development to support HSE requirements.
Interact with management at all levels to develop effective HSE orientated teams
Ensure all corrective / preventative actions are practical andsustainable
Support the coordination of third party certification activities - liaise with third party audit resources as appropriate.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Recognised HSE qualification such as NEBOSH
Diploma in Occupational Safety and Diploma in environmentalmanagement
Member of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience setting up and managing HSE systems and standards within a manufacturing &/or construction industrybusiness
Construction site experience
