Our client is a division of a global manufacturing group with a large fast paced manufacturing facility in Yorkshire. As a result of a recent restructure they have an opportunity for a HSE Manager to work as part of the leadership team to further improve and develop HSE performance within the business.

Reporting directly to the Site Director, the Health, Safety and Environment Manager has primary responsibility for leading on all HSE matters in the business supported by a small team. They will work in close partnership with all departmental and line leaders to set HSE priorities and drive performance. The HSE Manager is expected to think and act strategically but also focus on routine activity to maintain high HSE standards on a daily basis.

Key Duties Include:

Develop, maintain, improve and implement HSE policies and procedures in line with applicable legislation, permits and company standards and to meet ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 standards
Support and further develop the excellent existing proactive health and safety culture and behaviours
Track changes and trends in HSE performance and take responsibility for continuous improvement
Advise, support and coach line managers and senior leadership in the execution of their HSE responsibilities
Remain abreast of legislation and best practice and maintain positive working relationships with external authorities regarding HSE matterse .g. Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive, company insurersetc
Report to the senior management team on HSE awareness, issues, initiatives and statistics
Participate actively in investigation of incidents, occupational illnesses, HSE complaints and non-compliance and implement controls where necessary

Background & Qualifications

Proven working experience as a HSE manager or officer in a similar manufacturing environment
Excellent change management experience
NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
