ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT. Woodmead, Sandton. R240 000 to R380 000 (cost to company). This position would suit a mature, white lady with good solid experience and a lovely personality. Our client would consider ladies from 35 to 55 years old. MUST have your own car.
The position of bookkeeping and accounting assistant consists of performing any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.
Be responsible for providing administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes
- Classify, record, and summarise numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers
- Code documents according to company procedures
- Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses
- Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyse information
- Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records
- Manage inventory of office supplies and stationary
- Manage the availability of meeting rooms and material resources
- Prepare and forward expense account claims
- Support the administrative team in achieving their goals
- Verify the accuracy of data and other information in the records and reports
- Conduct research, compile data, and prepare papers for consideration and presentation by executives, committees and boards of directors




- File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports
- Perform general office duties, such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management database systems, and performing basic bookkeeping work
- Prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters and other documents; using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software
- Assist with debtor's and creditor's reconciliations


Qualifications and requirements


- Matric and a tertiary qualification in financial (Diploma or Degree) would be advantageous
- Minimum 8 years' experience in this field
- Ability to use computers and computer systems (MS Office - Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Sage Evolution would be very advantageous, to process and verify information, and to resolve conflicts
- Excellent English!!!!!!!
- Resides close to/near Woodmead, Sandton area
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, and to actively look for ways to help people
- Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions, and to manage one's own time and the time of others
