Compliance & Risk Officer with Accounting Function Our client based in Houghton who is a Group Company in the financial services industry is looking for a Group Compliance and Risk officer, with a main focus on Compliance for the group Company and Accounting specifically for the other subsidiary company who is a Short Term Insurance Broker. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE: To manage all aspects of compliance across the GroupTo manage the day to day accounting needs and requirements for the Boker and the property holding companyTo implement and manage all risk management areas for all companies in the GroupTo manage the day to day operational needs for the property companyTo provide assistance to the Managing DirectorKEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:Managing all aspects of compliance within all companies of the GroupEnsuring all companies are compliant with the new regulations of the FSCAEnsuring all companies are up to date with requirements of the FSCAUndertake bookkeeping and accounting role for 2 i group companies, namely a property holding company Propco, which will initially only hold one building in it, and a shortterm insurance brokerage, which is a wholly owned subsidiaryProcess all transactions, being revenue and expenses note Payroll is processed by the Group HR ManagerLiaise with group financial manager with regards to preparation of monthly management accountsIdentifying, assessing and controlling all risks associated with the GroupImplementing any processes and procedures to ensure the group is prepared to deal with any threatsCorrespond with all service providersLiaise with all Propco tenants on any day to day needs/ queriesBe responsible for management of facilities at property, which is a 2000sqm propertyAssistance with IT systems in conjunction with group operations managerManaging any employees employed by the property companyManaging Relationships and InterfacesMaintaining Sound Corporate Governance within the organisationEnsuring Financial DisciplineQUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES: Qualifications: Accounting Honours or equivalentArticles at an accounting firm would be an advantageCASA not essentialExperience:5 years compliance within the FSCA5 years broadbased financial management experience, in a relevant industry1 year broad operational experienceCompetencies: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practice GAAP and International Accounting Standards IASKnowledge of relevant financial legislation Public Finance and Management ActKnowledge of Financial ModellingKnowledge of Company Business Planning and Business Management principlesKnowledge of Taxation Company, Personal, VATNumeracyAttention to detailCommunication skillsPlanning and organisingComputer literacyERP KnowledgeACCPAC knowledge knowledgeQuickbooks knowledge not essentialLeadership Competencies: Driving accountabilityDrive and energyInitiating action/selfstarter/ proactiveBuilding and maintaining stakeholder relationshipsCrosscultural awarenessOrganisational understandingBusiness understandingStrategic focusCommunication skillsMarket related Salary
