Registrar (EKE399) (contract appointment: 5 years) Bloemfontein XXX-XXXX per annum plus benefits (TCTC R2 000 000 per annum) Five (5) years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further term. An applicable Masters degree. Ten (10) years experience at a tertiary institution of which five (5) years should have been in a senior management role. To serve as a member of the senior executive team, known as the Rectorate at the University, in supporting the Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Council and Senate, to lead, govern, implement and manage the strategic direction of the University. To serve as the Statutory Secretary to the Council and Senate and provides them with services that enable them to fulfil their policy-making and governance roles. To ensure that policy and decision-making are principally the preserve of the faculty boards, the Senate and the Council, advised by committees, the executive officers and other members of senior management. To be accountable and have overall responsibility for the academic administration of the University, for the student academic records, for certification and for all systems supporting student recruitment, admission, registration and examination. To support the Universitys executive officers (the vice-chancellor and the deputy vice- chancellors), deans, senior directors, heads of departments, and provides leadership in the academic administration of the University and providing advice across a wide range of internal structures. Duties and responsibilities: Ensure University compliance with statutory requirements. Responsible, under Councils delegated authority for instituting legal action in the name of the University and defending action against the University in any court of competent jurisdiction. Plan, organise, direct, publish, control, review and oversee the interpretation and implementation of the policies and legislation. Provide support, administrative, governance, and secretarial services to the Council and to Senate and their sub committees. Maintain records of the University, including the creation and continuing operation of a general registry to complement the student registry. Manage student academic administration including access, admission, enrolment, registration, academic records, examinations, and graduation. Ensure strategic management of marketing the study programmes of the University. Ensure strategic oversight of advertising, positioning and direct recruitment interventions to attract and retain identified desired market segments. Manage and oversee the heads of divisions that have responsibility for rendering the range of services enumerated under the purpose of the post, in a manner that ensures their effectiveness, efficiency and quality delivery for the University.
